Hans und sein Sohn Manfred wohnen im Norden von Deutschland. Hans ist 71 Jahre alt und hat viele Jahre als Fordson Mechaniker gearbeitet und nebenher noch ein wenig Landwirtschaft betrieben. Nun im verdienten Ruhestand hat er viel Zeit für seine große Leidenschaft, den Fordson Dexta. Unglaublich, aber es stimmt, in den Scheunen auf seinem kleinen Hof stehen 39 Fordson Dexta. Zusammen mit seinem Sohn Manfred reparieren die beiden alles selbst. Manfred ist gelernter Motorenschlosser und besitzt alle notwendigen Maschinen um die Motoren zu überarbeiten, sogar ein Bohrwerk zum Bohren von Laufbuchsen ist in der kleinen Werkstatt. Hans sagt, es habe nie einen besseren Traktor als den Dexta gegeben und es ist interessant ihm zuzuhören wenn er alte Geschichten aus seiner Zeit als Mechaniker erzählt. Hiermit möchte ich mich bei Hans und Manfred für die Gastfreundschaft bedanken. Ich schau öfter mal rein, wenn es meine Zeit erlaubt .... Hans and his son Manfred are living in northern of Germany. Hans is 71 years old. He worked as a Fordson mechanic for many years and he has his own small farm. Now he is retired and has a lot of time for his great passion, the Fordson Dexta. It's unblievable, but inside his barn I saw 39 Fordson Dexta tractors. They do all the repairs themselves. Manfred is a motor mechanic and he owns all the machines to overhaul the engines, including a machine for grinding liners. Hans said the Dexta is the best tractor ever made and I enjoyed listening to his narrations of the time he worked as a Fordson mechanic. Hajo aus 25499 Tangstedt hat mir einige Bilder geschickt und für uns ein paar Zeilen dazu geschrieben, vielen Dank: "Einen Trecker wollte ich schon immer haben. Der erste Versuch mit einem Ferguson FE 35 war noch nicht das Wahre. Also habe ich diesen kurzerhand wieder verkauft und die AVIS studiert. Einzige Bedingung war: ein funktionsfähiger Frontlader. Eine Anzeige war bereits mehrfach erschienen: Fordson Major mit Frontlader, Standort Lübeck. Das war im Nov. 2003. Ein Telefonat mit dem Verkäufer ergab, dass der Major meinen Vorstellungen entsprach. Das Problem, an dem bereits mehrere Interessenten vor mir gescheitert waren, ist das hohe Gewicht. Mit einem normalen Trailer und einem PKW als Zugfahrzeug ist da nichts zu machen. Dank meines Nachbarn Thomas, der mir seinen Landi geliehen hat (ohne Servolenkung :-(( ), und der Firma Autohof Scheuber (3,5 to-Trailer) klappte auch der Transport. Nach Verarbeitung von reichlich Blech und Farbe, sieht der Major heute wieder ganz ansehnlich aus und leistet uns beim Bauen gute Dienste. Da ich ein sehr weiches Herz habe konnte ich nicht "nein" sagen, als mir im Sommer 2004 ein Dexta in bedauernswertem Zustand für kleine Taler angeboten wurde. Er war komplett, aber teilzerlegt (Hydraulik).Dafür mit Frontlader. Trotz leckender Kraftstoffpumpe ist er ohne anschleppen angesprungen und lief recht gut. Leider hat sich dann der Anlasser verabschiedet und das Projekt ruhte bis zum Frühjahr 2005. Jetzt hat Stefan mir die benötigten Ersatzteile für meinen Anlasser besorgt und es kann weitergehen.Vielen Dank an Dich, Stefan, für die schnelle Ersatzteilversorgung. Das Bild zeigt den Dexta, nachdem ich den Dreck der letzten 40 Jahr mit dem Dampfstrahler entfernt habe. Die fehlendenBlechteile sind auch noch vorhanden und in einem recht guten Zustand. Ich hoffe, dass ich es zeitlich schaffe, noch diesen Sommer mit der Restaurierung zu beginnen. Zum Schluß möchte ich auf diesem Weg noch Hartmut Lindner kurz danken, der mir schon mit diversen Ersatzteilen weitergeholfen hat und dem ich einige Löcher in den Bauch fragen durfte.

Hajo from Germany sent a few pictures and was kind enough to tell us his story about it, thanks to him. Here's my try to translate the story: "I always had a dream of owning a tractor. My first tractor was a Ferguson FE35, but it was not that good and so I sold it. So I looked for another tractor, I only had one condition that it would have a front loader on it. In november 2003 in a local newspaper I found an advertisment for a Fordson Major that was for sale. I called the seller and it seems to be what I was looking for. Only problem was the weight of the tractor and that's the reason why it was still for sale. Thanks to my friend Thomas, with the help of his Landrover (no power steering :-o ) and a 3 1/2 ton trailer we managed to pick up the tractor. Now after welding up all the sheet metal and a paint job the tractor is looking good. The tractor was a great help in building our house. In 2004 I was asked if I wanted to buy a Dexta that was in bad shape, for a small price. The hydraulic's was dismantled and the fuel pump was leaking but the tractor was fitted with a front loader and was running pretty good. So my heart said "Yes" and I bought it. After starting the engine a few times the starter motor gave up the ghost and so the project was stoped until the spring of 2005. Stefan was kind enough to supply me with the parts for the starter motor and now I will go on with the restoration. The pictures show her after washing off all the dirt from 40 years of hard work.
